Muac Tape (mid-upper arm circumference)

A MUAC (Mid-Upper Arm Circumference) tape is an efficient and affordable tool used by healthcare workers to quickly assess nutritional status and screen for malnutrition in both children and adults. These tapes are color-coded for rapid, visual diagnosis in field settings.

Intended Use:
MUAC stands for Mid-Upper Arm Circumference. MUAC is a simple and reliable tool that allows health workers to quickly determine if a patient is acutely malnourished.
MUAC bands are color coded. If a girth of the patient’s arm falls under the green part of the tape, it indicates that the patient is not malnourished. If it falls within the yellow part of the band, it indicates that the patient is at the risk of malnutrition. Lastly, if the girth falls within the red part of the band, it indicates that the patient is severely malnourished.
